Allan Bense is currently president and CEO of Bense Enterprises, Inc., which was established in the early 1980s and is affiliated with companies that have interests in road building, general construction, mechanical contracting, insurance, golf courses and farming. In addition to his own successful business ventures, Bense shares his expertise as current chairman of the Florida State University Board of Trustees. He is also chairman of the board of the James Madison Institute, chairman of the Bay Economic Alliance, a member of the Florida Council of 100 and a director of Gulf Power Company (NYSE:GUL). He also served as speaker of the Florida House of Representatives from 2004 until 2006.

Frederick Carroll, III, CPA is the Managing Partner of Carroll and Company, a Tallahassee-based CPA firm specializing in tax and audit. Mr. Carroll is a 1972 graduate of Furman University and received his Masters of Accounting from Florida State University in 1976. He currently serves on the boards of Tallahassee Community College Foundation, advisory board for Florida State University College of Business and the Florida State University Coastal and Marine Laboratory Board of Trustees. He has previously served as chairman of the following organizations: Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare Foundation, Southeastern Community Blood Center and Leon County Schools’ Foundation Board of Trustees.

Stanley W. Connally Jr. (Stan) is chairman, president and CEO of Gulf Power Company, a subsidiary of Southern Company, which is one of the largest producers of electricity in the United States. He began his career with Southern Company in 1989 as a co-op student at Georgia Power’s Plant Yates, and held positions of increasing responsibility in customer operations, sales and marketing, and power generation at Georgia Power, Mississippi Power and Alabama Power before being named president of Gulf Power in 2012. Connally earned his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He completed the Goizueta Executive Education Program at Emory University in 2004 and the Southern Company Senior Leadership Development Program in 2009. In addition to his service on the Capital City Bank Group Board of Directors, Connally serves on the boards of the Florida Chamber of Commerce, Florida Council of 100 and Enterprise Florida. He has also been appointed by Florida Governor Rick Scott to the Aerospace Alliance board, a four-state organization working to bring aviation-related jobs to the Gulf Coast and to Triumph Gulf Coast, Inc.

J. Everitt Drew joined Investors Realty working in the commercial division in 1978. During that time he earned the CCIM (Certified Commercial Investment Member) designation. In 1984 he left Investors to form SouthGroup where he was later joined by his brother Mitchell. SouthGroup grew into one of the leading real estate brokerage, management, development and investment firms in the Capital Region. In 1999, SouthGroup Properties and SouthGroup Management were sold to Advantis, then a subsidiary of the publicly traded St. Joe Company.
In 2000 Everitt became the President of the St. Joe Land Company where his duties included the establishment of a division to oversee the sale and development of several thousand acres across northwest Florida and southwest Georgia. In 2006 he was named President of the Capital Region for The St. Joe Company, responsible for all St. Joe real estate products in seven Florida counties and all of Georgia. In early 2007 he left the St. Joe Company and joined his brother in the re-established SouthGroup where he serves as President of SouthGroup Equities, Inc. He also currently serves as a Director of Capital City Bank Group.
Through the years, Everitt has devoted extensive time to the community, serving on numerous boards and organizations including Goodwill Industries, Southern Scholarship Foundation, Holy Comforter Episcopal School and the FSU Real Estate Executive Advisory Board. He also served as chairman of the following organizations: Tallahassee-Leon County Civic Center Authority, Economic Development Council, Tallahassee Area Chamber of Commerce, Young Life Tallahassee and the Community Foundation of North Florida. He currently serves on the boards of Tallahassee Memorial Health Ventures Inc. and the FSU Real Estate Foundation.

Eric Grant is president of Municipal Code Corporation (Municode), the nation’s largest provider of municipal solutions, serving over 4,100 clients in all 50 states. Grant joined the Municode team in 2007 and served as vice president of the Supplement Department until September of 2012. Under Grant’s skillful guidance as president, Municode has achieved increased levels of growth and successfully navigated several key acquisitions within Municode’s traditional line of business as well as into new verticals. Prior to receiving his Juris Doctorate from the University of Virginia, Grant attended the United States Naval Academy and Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service while serving as a member of the United States Marine Corps. In addition to being stationed in Virginia, Kentucky, California and abroad, Grant and his unit, the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit, were deployed during Operation Enduring Freedom in 2001. A devoted husband and father of four children, Grant also serves on the boards of the Community Foundation of North Florida and the United Way of the Big Bend.

Laura Johnson is founding artist and CEO of Coton Colors, a leading lifestyle brand in the giftware and home décor industries headquartered in Tallahassee, Fla. A third generation Miamian, Johnson first came to Tallahassee to pursue a degree in studio art at the Florida State University. Upon completion of her degree, she relocated with her husband to Atlanta, Ga., where she began a career in graphic design, but returned to Tallahassee in 1986 with dreams of owning her own business. Channeling her desire to design and market her own products, Johnson began the Coton Colors brand by making hand-dyed and painted cotton children’s clothing for her three daughters. With Johnson’s creativity and entrepreneurial spirit to fuel its growth, Coton Colors now offers a variety of product lines sold in more than 3,000 stores across the United States, as well as in the United Kingdom, Ireland and China.

Dr. Henry Lewis, III, has been Professor and Dean of the College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at Florida A&M University since 1994. Dr. Lewis served as an Interim President of the Florida A&M University since 2002. Dr. Lewis served as a Dean of the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences at Texas Southern University from 1990 to 1994. He has been an Independent Director at Capital City Bank Group Inc. since July 1, 2003. He received a degree in Pharmacy from FAMU in 1971 and his Doctorate of Pharmacy from Mercer University in 1978.

John G. Sample, Jr., is senior vice president and CFO of Atlantic American Corporation, Sample brings valuable expertise built over decades of service in the accounting industry. He was named “CFO of the Year” for mid-sized companies by the Atlanta Business Chronicle and, from 2004 through the present, has served as director of 1stFranklin Financial Corporation, a consumer finance organization operating in six states throughout the southeast out of Toccoa, Ga.
Prior to joining Atlantic American in July of 2002, Sample spent 24 years with Arthur Andersen, where he specialized in the insurance and financial services industries. He was audit partner in the Atlanta office from 1993 until 2002, prior to which he served four years as audit partner at the firm’s Bermuda office.
Sample is a graduate of Emory University, where he earned his Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree in accounting. He earned his Certified Public Accountant designation in 1980 and is currently licensed in the state of Georgia.
