William “Bill” G. Smith Jr. began his career at Capital City Bank in 1978 and worked in numerous capacities before being named chief executive officer of Capital City Bank Group, Inc. in 1995 and chairman in 2003. Florida Trend Magazine recognizes him as one of the 500 most influential business executives in the state.
Bill's alma mater is Florida State University. He was inducted into the FSU College of Business Hall of Fame in 2009.
Bill serves on the Southern Company Board of Directors, a super-regional energy company based in Atlanta, Georgia, and formerly served on the Darlington School Board of Trustees and the First National Bankers Bank Board of Directors.
Thomas A. Barron
President
Capital City Bank Group
Thomas “Tom” A. Barron joined Capital City Bank in 1974 and has held positions across every area of the Bank. After serving as president of Second National Bank and Industrial National Bank, Mr. Barron was appointed president of Capital City Bank in 1995, during the Bank's centennial year. After three decades of distinguished leadership in that role, he was elected president of Capital City Bank Group, Inc. and chairman of Capital City Bank in 2025.
Active in the community, Mr. Barron has served as chair of the Southeastern Community Blood Center, the Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce, the United Way of the Big Bend and the Seminole Boosters, as well as president of the Community Bankers of Florida. He currently serves on the boards of Capital Health Plan and Tall Timbers.
He holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Florida State University.
Jep Larkin
Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer
Jep currently serves as executive vice president and chief financial officer of Capital City Bank Group. As the principal accounting and financial officer, he oversees accounting and financial reporting, treasury, profitability analysis and financial planning. Jep is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in Florida and Georgia.
Since joining Capital City Bank in 1986, Jep has held various credit roles, led the Internal Audit Division and served as controller until assuming his current position in 2022. He chairs the Asset/Liability and Market Risk Oversight committees of the Bank and serves on multiple Senior Management-level committees aimed at analyzing business line profitability and strategic initiatives. Additionally, he oversees the analysis and integration of mergers and acquisitions.
Jep holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and a Master of Business Administration in Finance degree from the Florida State University and is a graduate of the Stonier School of Banking. He serves his community by volunteering with Big Brothers Big Sisters, Meals on Wheels, coaching with Tallahassee Parks and Recreation, chairing the Leon County Audit Advisory Committee and supporting the United Way of the Big Bend. He is a deacon of Bradfordville First Baptist Church and has served in several capacities, including deacon secretary/officer, treasurer and a member of the finance committee.
Beth Corum
President, Capital City Bank
Beth currently serves as president of Capital City Bank. She joined Capital City in 2006 as chief people officer, served as president of Capital City Services Company and in 2015 was promoted to chief operating officer. Beth is responsible for managing the operations and financial performance of the bank, as well as strengthening relationships with key stakeholders. Beth is also a director of Capital City Bank and an officer of Capital City Bank Group.
Under Beth’s leadership, Capital City Bank has been recognized as a Best Place to Work by Florida Trend magazine annually since 2012; a Best Place to Work by Georgia Trend magazine; and a Best Bank to Work For by the American Banker annually since 2013. Capital City Bank has been recognized for its client-focused and compassionate associate response to Hurricanes Irma, Michael and Idalia, as well as the COVID-19 pandemic.
Beth is a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Martin and received her master’s degree from Florida State University. She is a dedicated community advocate and currently serves as a director of Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare, chairman of the United Way of the Big Bend and vice chair for the Community Foundation of North Florida. She has served as a member of the City of Tallahassee Charter Review Commission and is past chairman of both the Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce and the Children’s Home Society of North Florida. Beth is a graduate of Leadership Tallahassee and Leadership Florida.
Corum is recipient of the 2019 Julian V. Smith Award, an honor reserved for the Capital City Associate who embodies a spirit of volunteerism and selflessly gives of his or herself for the benefit of others. She was named Tallahassee's 2019 Woman of the Year by Tallahassee Woman magazine and received a Pinnacle Award from 850 Business Magazine.
Lee Nichols
Executive Vice President, Chief Credit Officer
As chief credit officer, Lee oversees loan delivery, portfolio risk and Current Expected Credit Losses (CECL) methodology, as well as leads initiatives for process improvement, digital lending software and risk management. He is a CPA and Chartered Global Management Accountant with more than 30 years of experience in finance, accounting, planning, mergers and acquisitions, and management across the United States and Europe.
He joined Capital City Bank in 2004 as senior vice president in the Credit Administration Department with primary responsibility for directing loan delivery and portfolio risk management. In 2021, Nichols received the Mountain Mover Award, the top service honor presented by Capital City Bank, and has been selected three times to attend Star Summit, an annual awards program recognizing the top sales and service leaders across the Bank.
Nichols earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Florida State University, is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants (FICPA). He is active in Pi Kappa Phi Properties, Trinity United Methodist Church, Leadership Tallahassee and the Capital Tiger Bay Club.
Ramsay Sims
Executive Vice President, Chief Lending Officer
Ramsay Sims began his service with Capital City Bank in 2010 and currently serves as chief banking officer, responsible for overseeing the retail and lending divisions. In his career, he has amassed decades of experience serving corporations, governments and non-profit organizations in the financial sector. Prior to joining Capital City Bank, Ramsay spent five years in public finance with Merrill Lynch, three years in corporate tax-exempt finance with Banc of America Securities and six years with GE Capital.
Ramsay holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of the South (Sewanee) and a master’s in business administration from Florida State University. He previously served on the board of America’s Second Harvest of the Big Bend, where he held the offices of finance committee chair, treasurer and president. Ramsay also served as a vestry member at St. John’s Episcopal Church and is the current board president for the Leon County Educational Facilities Authority.
